A brief explanation

Independent of gas connection

Hydrobag creates the conditions for gas-free living. This is one of the means used by the Dutch government to achieve its climate targets. Hydrobag will therefore play an important role in the energy transition.

Combination heat pump and/or solar collector

Hydrobag acts as buffer storage for hot water in combination with a heat pump and/or solar collector (incl. heatpipes). In the period from March to October the Hydrobag can heat standalone using these heatpipes. Only in the four remaining winter months can a back-up be used, e.g. a heat pump or boiler.

Flexibility

Its flexibility makes it easy to place Hydrobag’s buffer tank, which has a volume of a few cubic metres, in, for example, a crawl space. Partly due to the insulation by means of a special shell with a minimum Rd= 5.4, the buffer tank has a heat loss that is limited to 0.4 degree per 24 hours.

Cooling

A Hydrobag without this insulation shell can also provide cooling in the summer.

Subsidy

The Hydrobag system is officially certified by the RVO as a subsidy scheme. This makes it possible to purchase the system without large investments. And because the gas tap of the house is disconnected, the winter months will be considerably cheaper. This makes it economical and therefore attractive to install a Hydrobag in your home.

Technical, figures and other facts

No chance of legionella

Hydrobag is a heat battery, suitable for (floor) heating and tap water support. Because it is a closed system (heat exchanger), there is no risk of legionella. This makes this type of system extremely suitable for larger applications such as catering, camping, agricultural companies, industry and residential farms.

 

Lifespan 40 years

Hydrobag is made of EPDM*, a synthetic rubber obtained by polymerization of Ethylene, Propylene and a Di Monomer + special insert. Hydrobag is vapour tight and the welds are stronger than the material itself. Hydrobag is also flexible and has a life span of 40 years due to the quality of the material.

Resistant to chemicals

Hydrobag is resistant to more than 90 types of chemicals and alkalis or acids. The material is also UV and ozone resistant, root-proof and not sensitive to microorganisms and atmospheric influences (acid rain). An overview of the chemicals Hydrobag is resistant to can be sent on request.

 

* Research has shown that the test values of EPDM time and again exceed the standards, DIN and ASTM – which are the basis for the production of EPDM.

 

100% recyclable

Hydrobag can be placed in (for example) crawl spaces and therefore does not take up living (work) space. The size can vary from 500 to 10,000 liters and Hydrobag can be made to measure. The empty weight is 1400 grams per m². It can absorb temperature differences from -35° to +135° and does not generate static electricity. Hydrobag is 100% recyclable.

Savings

The Hydrobag can be connected to solar collectors, heat pumps and existing gas installations. This contributes to considerable savings. Hydrobag will help ensure that the house gets a better energy label.

Costs and Warranty

Hydrobag comes with a 10 year warranty. The selling price of the 2m³ Hydrobag is € 1.750,– (consumer price excluding VAT) and is therefore lower than comparable buffer tanks.

The payback period is approximately between 7 and 9 years, depending on the type of home and the gas and electricity consumption.
